The foundation stone. It reads, "Die XXVIII mensis Junii anno MCMLVI lapidem hunc primarium ad majorem Dei gloriam et in honorem SS. Petri et Pauli deposuit Revmus. Dnus. Dnus Eduardus Ellis episcopus Nottinghamiensis." (The 28th day of the month of June in the year 1956 this first stone, to the glory of God and in honour of St Peter and St Paul, was placed by the Right Reverend Edward Ellis, Bishop of Nottingham.) The headstone at Fr Blackwell's grave. It reads, "Pray for the soul of Rev Patrick Joseph Blackwell born 25th March 1920 Died 12th October 1992 aged 72 Requiescat in Pace. An inscribed lintel records the affection and gratitude of parishioners. Fr Blackwell's headstone
The body of Fr Patrick Blackwell, our parish priest for a number of years, is buried at Newhall Cemetery, about ten minutes walk from the church. May he rest in peace.
